CHAGAI:
Seven mine workers were abducted after eight armed men stormed a private mining site in Mahian Kor, Chagai district, and held the staff hostage for several hours before fleeing with the workers, vehicles, fuel and other equipment.
According to sources, the attackers arrived on motorcycles at around 1pm at the mining site, located approximately 15 to 18 kilometres west of Chagai town.
The abducted workers were identified as four men from Gilgit – Wajahat, Wajid, Shahid and Sabir – and three local workers: Ziauddin from Dalbandin, Shah Saleem from Mahian, Chagai, and Saeed Muhammad from Mahian, Chagai.
The incident left the families of the seven workers anxiously waiting for information about their loved ones. The workers had not been recovered at the time of filing this report.
Sources said the armed men remained at the mining site until around 7pm and took away a vehicle, a 4×4 pickup, more than 20 solar panels, a motorcycle, bedding, kitchen equipment and gas cylinders.
They also allegedly took 2,500 litres of diesel and 1,500 litres of petrol, along with other equipment and belongings from the site.
The incident was promptly reported to the relevant authorities.
The district administration continued efforts to trace the abducted workers and recover the stolen property.
