Govt, PPP conclude legislation talks

ISLAMABAD:

The second round of negotiations between the government and the PPP on proposed legislation concluded on Wednesday, with both sides agreeing to continue discussions.

Sources said the PPP maintained its firm stance on the proposed Right of Way Bill, questioning how a mobile phone tower could be installed forcibly on privately owned land.

The Right of Way Bill refers to the Pakistan Telecommunication (Re-organization) (Amendment) Bill, 2026, which amends the Pakistan Telecommunication Act of 1996 to streamline the deployment of telecom infrastructure such as optical fiber cables, towers, and 5G networks.
