QUETTA:
Train operations from Quetta resumed on Saturday after a one-day suspension, with key services departing on schedule, according to railway authorities. The Jaffar Express to Peshawar left Quetta at its designated time carrying passengers, while the Chaman Passenger train also proceeded to its destination as per the regular timetable.
Railway sources confirmed that these routes had been briefly halted but were cleared for operation. However, the Bolan Mail service connecting Quetta and Karachi will remain suspended until February 12, pending further security assessments and possible track-related requirements.
The restoration follows recent fluctuations in train services across Balochistan, which have been intermittently disrupted due to security incidents in the province. Officials emphasized that passenger safety remains the top priority, with decisions on suspensions and resumptions made in consultation with relevant authorities.
In a separate development, residents of Hazara Town in Quetta staged a sit-in protest on Saturday against what they described as hubs of immorality operating in the area. A large number of locals, including children, elders, and youth, participated in the demonstration.
Protesters claimed that ongoing unethical activities were polluting the social environment and severely impacting the younger generation. They accused relevant authorities of remaining silent spectators on the grave issue, expressing deep concern over the lack of action.
Chanting slogans against the administration, demonstrators demanded immediate and effective measures to dismantle the alleged sites and restore peace in the neighborhood. They warned that failure to address their grievances promptly would lead to an expansion of the protest campaign.
