Third movie officially announced Paul Giamatti returns alongside stellar cast

Focus Features and Carnival Films have officially announced the production of a third installment in the popular “Downton Abbey” film franchise.

Scheduled for release, the upcoming movie will reunite audiences with familiar faces from both the television series and previous films.

Notable returning cast members include Hugh Bonneville, Elizabeth McGovern, Michelle Dockery, and Laura Carmichael.

Additionally, Paul Giamatti will reprise his role as Harold Levinson, the brother of Cora Grantham. Joining the ensemble are new cast additions such as Joely Richardson, Alessandro Nivola, Simon Russell Beale, and Arty Froushan.

The script for the third movie has been penned by Julian Fellowes, the creator of “Downton Abbey,” who also wrote the previous two films.

Simon Curtis, who directed the second film, “Downton Abbey: A New Era,” will return to helm this latest installment.

The announcement was accompanied by a video featuring the cast reuniting for production, with Dockery expressing her excitement at being back together with her fellow actors.

Set in the early 20th century, the “Downton Abbey” series and films follow the lives of the aristocratic Crawley family and their servants in the U.K.

The first film, released in 2019, picked up the story in 1927, while the sequel, “Downton Abbey: A New Era,” continued the narrative in 1928.

Imelda Staunton, who plays Lady Maud Bagshaw in the films, previously confirmed the existence of a third film during an interview on BBC Radio 2.

Staunton’s announcement was met with excitement from fans eagerly awaiting further adventures from the beloved characters.

Returning alongside the main cast are familiar faces such as Jim Carter, Phyllis Logan, Robert James-Collier, and Joanne Froggatt, among others, as confirmed by the official release.

The third “Downton Abbey” film promises to deliver another chapter in the saga of the Crawley family and their entourage, continuing to captivate audiences with its compelling storytelling and beloved characters.
