KARACHI:
Deputy Inspector General (DIG) South Asad Raza on Saturday ordered an inquiry into the circumstances surrounding a case registered after a video of two women fighting at a residential building in Defence’s Chhota Bukhari area went viral, police said.
DIG Raza said that the inquiry would examine the reasons for registration of the case and the facts surrounding the matter, while Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Investigation South would conduct the probe.
The investigating police said the case challan had not yet been submitted and that sections relating to snatching and theft had been removed from the case.
Police said a plain-clothed official seen in CCTV footage was allegedly from Korangi Police. Police officials said the personnel seen in the footage would also be questioned.
An inquiry was ordered after video footage emerged on social media in connection with the fight between two women at a flat in Defence’s Khayaban-e-Bukhari.
The incident took place nine days ago, according to area residents. The footage showed police personnel dragging a young man away, while an official Vigo vehicle can also be seen at the scene.
The emergence of the footage has raised further questions about the police role, while details about the presence of police personnel and use of the official vehicle have yet to emerge.
Injured woman speaks
A video of injured woman Noor-ul-Ain has also surfaced in which the woman can be seen frightened and injured.
“My nose and mouth are bleeding, and there is also an injury to my eye. My hair has been pulled out,” she said.

A video showing two women fighting while police personnel were present at the Khayaban-e-Bukhari flat had earlier surfaced. A case was registered at Darakhshan police station in connection with the incident.
SSP denies link to viral video
SSP Korangi Fida Hussain Janwari strongly denied being linked to a video circulating on social media.
“Neither my wife nor my sister is in the video,” Janwari said.
He said a “disgraceful post” had described a girl of his daughter’s age as his wife and alleged that a deliberate attempt had been made to malign his character by associating the video with him.
“I will take legal action against those elements who circulated the video by associating it with me,” he said, adding that he had contacted National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) officials.
