Infiltration attempts made at time when Pakistan-Afghanistan talks underway in Turkiye
Security forces foiled a major infiltration attempt along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, killing 25 militants, including suicide bombers. The exchange of fire took place opposite the general areas of Ghaki in Kurram District and Spinwam in North Waziristan, the military’s media wing said on Sunday.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), security forces detected movements of two large groups of Khwarij attempting to infiltrate Pakistan from across the Pakistan-Afghanistan border opposite the general areas of Ghaki in Kurram District and Spinwam in North Waziristan District on the night of October 24–25, 2025.
“Our troops effectively engaged these groups of Khwarij, and as a result of precise and skillful engagements, 15 Khwarij, including four suicide bombers belonging to the Indian proxy Fitna al-Khwarij, were sent to hell in Spinwam, North Waziristan District,” the ISPR said.

In Ghaki, Kurram District, another group of infiltrating militants was engaged by security forces, resulting in multiple casualties and the recovery of weapons and explosives.
“Another 10 infiltrating Khwarij were killed in Ghaki, Kurram District, while a large quantity of weapons, ammunition, and explosives was recovered from the killed terrorists,” the ISPR stated.
However, during the exchange of fire, the military said that five soldiers were martyred while fighting gallantly in the line of duty.
“Five brave sons of soil — Havaldar Manzoor Hussain, 35, (resident of District Ghizar), Sepoy Nauman Ilyas Kiyani, 23, (resident of District Poonch), Sepoy Muhammad Adil, 24, (resident of District Kasur), Sepoy Shah Jehan, 25, (resident of District Vehari) and Sepoy Ali Asghar, 25, (resident of District Pak Pattan) — fought gallantly, paid the ultimate sacrifice and embraced Shahadah,” the ISPR said.
The military media wing noted that the timing of the infiltration attempts coincided with ongoing diplomatic engagements between Pakistan and Afghanistan in Türkiye.

“It is significant to note that these infiltration attempts by Fitna al-Khwarij are being carried out at a time when delegations of Pakistan and Afghanistan are engaged in talks in Türkiye,” ISPR stated, “casting serious doubts on the intentions of the Interim Afghan Government regarding its commitment to addressing terrorism emanating from its soil.”
The statement added that Pakistan has consistently urged the Interim Afghan Government to ensure effective border management and fulfill its obligations under the Doha Agreement by preventing the use of Afghan territory by Khwarij elements against Pakistan.
A sanitisation operation is currently under way to eliminate any remaining Indian-sponsored militants in the area. ISPR reaffirmed that the relentless counter-terrorism campaign under ‘Azm-e-Istihkam’, as approved by the Federal Apex Committee on the National Action Plan, will continue at full pace to eradicate the menace of foreign-sponsored terrorism from the country.
Meanwhile, President Asif Ali Zardari lauded the security forces for their successful operation in foiling the infiltration bid in North Waziristan and Kurram.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the president expressed deep admiration for the courage and dedication of the armed forces in defending the homeland and paid glowing tribute to the five martyrs who laid down their lives in the line of duty.
“The mischief of Kharijite elements and their Indian sponsors will never succeed in their nefarious designs,” President Zardari asserted, reaffirming the government’s commitment to eliminating terrorism in all its forms.

He reiterated that operations under the Resolve for Stability (Azm-e-Istihkam) campaign would continue until the complete eradication of terrorism from the country.
“The nation will always take pride in the sacrifices of its brave sons,” the president said, adding that the martyrs, by sacrificing their lives for the defence of the motherland, have raised the nation’s head high with honour and pride.
President Zardari emphasised that the Pakistan Armed Forces stand as an impregnable wall in the defence of the country, protecting its sovereignty and territorial integrity with unmatched resolve.
He extended heartfelt condolences to the families of the martyrs, praying for strength and patience for them to bear their loss with fortitude.
