Best dressed at Met Gala 2024? Mona Patel’s stunning mechanical butterfly look

Mona Patel made a stunning first appearance on the red carpet at the 2024 Met Gala, captivating the internet with her butterfly dress, which has since gone viral.

Originally from Vadodara, Gujarat, Patel is a successful businesswoman.

She turned heads at the event in a nude-colored custom gown by Iris Van Herpen, perfectly in line with the gala’s theme: The Garden of Time.

Having relocated to the United States in 2003, Patel has founded several companies, including HauteX Ventures and radXai, a health tech startup. She was also recognized as a Forbes Next 1000 honoree in 2021.

Her gown featured a scalloped train with gold-embroidered accents, while gold butterfly embellishments adorned her arms, extending past her elbows.

What set her look apart was the mechanical movement of the butterfly wings, which captivated social media users.

To complete her ensemble, Patel slipped into open-toed gold heels adorned with sparkling rhinestones, while her teardrop earrings shimmered under the bright lights.

Styled by Law Roach, known for his work with actress Zendaya, Patel expressed her excitement about her debut look, telling Vogue India in March, “I wanted my debut look to be something that celebrates my heritage and also combines my love couture, and when I heard of the theme, Iris Van Herpen seemed like the obvious choice.”
