Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti has directed relevant departments to speed up work on ongoing projects under the Quetta Development Package, stressing that delays in schemes aimed at improving the provincial capital will not be tolerated.
The directives were issued during a meeting at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat, where officials briefed the chief minister on the progress of development, civic improvement and beautification initiatives in Quetta.
Officials told the meeting that 12 projects under the package have been completed, while work on 7 schemes is currently in progress. While, 5 additional development projects have also been proposed for the provincial capital.
CM Bugti instructed departments concerned to accelerate construction on the seven ongoing schemes and complete them within the stipulated timelines. He also directed authorities to initiate work on the five proposed projects at the earliest.
The Chief Minister emphasised that development projects must be executed with a focus on quality, transparency and timely completion. He warned that avoidable delays would not be acceptable.
“Quetta is the face of Balochistan, and its development and beautification represent the identity of the entire province,” Bugti said.
He maintained that the provincial government would utilise available resources to improve Quetta’s infrastructure, civic services and overall appearance, with the objective of developing the city into a modern and well-managed provincial capital.
Bugti also called for a comprehensive plan to restore Quetta’s historical character and former beauty, directing that basic civic facilities, urban infrastructure, development and beautification receive particular attention.
He said the government’s objective was to provide residents with better municipal and basic services while ensuring that the city’s historical and cultural heritage remains protected amid modern urban development.
