QUETTA:

Three labourers were abducted in Balochistan’s Barkhan district after armed men launched a major attack on the crush plant of Zargoon Construction Company late Saturday night.

The assailants opened fire on the plant before abducting three men from the construction site. The abducted men were identified as daily-wage workers from Musakhel who were working on the site. Officials said the gunfire caused partial damage to machinery and temporarily halted operations.

Zargoon Construction Company has confirmed the incident and is in contact with the families of the abducted workers.

According to police sources, the attackers also targeted a nearby police checkpoint, seizing weapons from three officers before fleeing.

Security forces, including the Levies and Frontier Corps (FC), launched search operations immediately after the attack. Efforts to recover the abducted workers and apprehend the attackers are ongoing, with no updates yet on their whereabouts.

The attack is part of a series of recent incidents targeting construction companies, particularly those involved in road and infrastructure projects in Balochistan. Experts say such attacks may aim to disrupt development projects and spread fear in the region.

District authorities have tightened security in affected areas and urged the public to report any suspicious activity.
