A new westerly weather system is set to enter Pakistan’s western regions on Tuesday, with its effects expected to extend to the upper parts of the country from Wednesday, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) on Sunday.
The Met Office said light rain or drizzle is likely in Karachi due to the system, accompanied by increased wind speeds. Weather conditions in the port city are expected to remain partly cloudy, with chances of isolated drizzle at some locations.
Light rain and drizzle are also forecast for other coastal areas of Sindh, including Badin and Thatta, the PMD said.

The department has forecast rain, wind and thunderstorms, along with snowfall over hilly areas, across Balochistan and the upper parts of the country from the night of February 8 to February 10, as the westerly wave moves northward, while parts of Punjab and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa are also expected to receive rain with gusty winds and thunderstorms.
According to the PMD, widespread rain and thunderstorms with snowfall over hills are likely in several districts of Balochistan, including Quetta, Ziarat, Chaman, Pishin, Qilla Abdullah, Qilla Saifullah, Chaghi, Noshki, Harnai, Zhob, Kalat, Mastung, Barkhan, Sibi, Loralai, Khuzdar, Kech, Gwadar, Panjgur and Awaran on February 8 and 9.
The PMD has advised residents to remain cautious, particularly in areas prone to strong winds and thunderstorms, as the weather system progresses over the next two days.

According to state broadcaster Radio Pakistan, mainly cold and dry weather is expected over most parts of the country, while very cold in hilly areas during the next twelve hours.
However, partly cloudy to cloudy weather with light rain and light snowfall is likely at isolated places in northern and western Balochistan.
