Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Thursday that his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi will visit Israel next week.

“We are acting to strengthen our alliances. Next week, my close friend Narendra Modi, the Prime Minister of India, a huge global power, will visit Israel,” Netanyahu said in a televised speech at a military ceremony.

Modi visited Israel as prime minister once in 2017, and Netanyahu made a reciprocal visit to India the following year.

Under Modi’s leadership, ties between the two countries have deepened, with expanding cooperation in technology, agriculture, security and other sectors.

According to the Times of Israel, Netanyahu has been planning to visit India recently but it has been delayed many times.

Other media sources said that defence cooperation and technology ties are expected on agenda during Modi visit to the Netanhayu.

Deeper economic ties

In July 2025, Israel’s Finance Ministry said that Israel and India are finalising an investment protection agreement and expect to sign it in the coming months.

India has become in recent years one of Israel’s most important trade partners globally and especially in Asia, and the volume of trade and investments between the two countries is expected to increase sharply in the coming years in light of their strengthening diplomatic and security relations.

Bilateral trade between India and Israel in 2024 came to almost $4 billion.
