“He’s very happy in his new relationship”

Taylor Swift’s latest album, “The Tortured Poet’s Department,” dropped on streaming platforms at midnight Eastern Time on April 19th. Since then, there has been a lot of online speculation about the subjects of the tracks, with many fans suggesting that several songs are about the 1975’s lead singer, Matty Healy.

Swift, who had a brief relationship with Healy last spring, is believed to be referencing him in the song “The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived,” along with several other tracks on her latest album. This has sparked considerable criticism aimed at Matty Healy to which his aunt has now responded.

The song’s lyrics mention a man in a “Jehovah’s Witness suit,” and Healy is recognized for wearing distinct black suits during his live performances.

However, Healy’s aunt, Debbie Dedes, expressed her displeasure with Swift’s comments about her exes, including Matty, when speaking to the Daily Mail.

In the interview, Debbie Dedes mentioned Matty’s new girlfriend who is thought to be, model Gabbriette Bechtel, and stated that he is “very happy.”

Debbie commented on how Matty might respond: “He will not be surprised by the song. Him and her know what went on.”

She continued, “She writes about all her relationships, doesn’t she? I don’t think it will come as a shock to him at all.”

Hinting that Matty might have his side of the story that he’s chosen not to share publicly, Debbie added, “As my nephew, we know a bit more about what went on than has been in the press.”

Other lyrics in the song suggest the unnamed subject “tried to buy some pills.” Healy has previously spoken about his struggles with drug addiction.

Swift and Healy were rumored to have had a whirlwind romance starting in April 2023.

Swift is now in a happy relationship with Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce. Despite this, the Grammy-winning singer doesn’t shy away from referencing her past relationships in her music.

Songs Referencing Matty Healy

While many initially thought several songs, including the album’s title track “The Tortured Poets Department,” were about actor Joe Alwyn, Swift’s six-year boyfriend, fans now speculate that several songs might be about Healy due to the detailed descriptions.

The title track includes the line “who uses typewriters anyway?”, with fans noting Healy’s 2019 interview where he expressed his fondness for old-fashioned typewriters.

Additionally, some fans believe “But Daddy I Love Him,” a song expressing disapproval of a romantic partner, may also be about Healy, suggesting that fans’ disapproval may have contributed to the end of their relationship.
