‘Vegas legend’ Dave Cokin dead at 71

Las Vegas capper and longtime sports betting analyst Dave Cokin has passed away at the age of 71 after a 14-month battle with cancer.

Known for his work in radio, television, and print, Cokin was a beloved figure in the Las Vegas sports community.

His friend Scott Spreitzer confirmed the news on X, formerly Twitter, stating, “After 14 months of battling cancer like a true fighter, my great friend of 30 years, the ‘man under the hat,’ passed away peacefully around 4 am PT today. He lived life his way until the very end. RIP GOAT! You’ll be sorely missed by many.”

Cokin recently announced his retirement, revealing his cancer diagnosis and expressing that he did not expect to live much longer.

“He’s arguably the most well-known guy that we’ve ever had for Las Vegas sports talk radio,” said former co-host Steve Cofield following Cokin’s retirement.

Beyond sports, Dave was deeply involved in local animal rescues, supporting them with donations and encouragement. His contributions to both the sports and animal rescue communities will be fondly remembered.
