ISLAMABAD:
Islamabad High Court has sought replies from Senate secretary, federal government and others on a petition seeking production order of PTI Senator Ijaz Chaudhry for the session.
IHC interim Chief Justice Sarfaraz Dogar heard the senator’s petition. The petitioner submitted that he was arrested under MPO on May 9, 2023, which came into end on the order of Lahore High Court. However, he was re-arrested in a fake case of May 9. “I am languishing in Lahore prison, whereas I have a right to attend Senate session being a Senator,” added the petitioner.
He prayed the court to issue his production order for every session of Senate and joint meeting of the Parliament.
The IHC interim CJ inquired from petitioner’s lawyer Babar Awan if the case comes into court’s jurisdiction. Awan gave references of Muhammad Khan Junejo and Javed Hashmi cases, adding it falls under the jurisdiction of the IHC.
