Prince Harry has returned to the polo field, raising both funds and eyebrows at a charity match in Florida.
The event, which drew a crowd of media and socialites on Friday, saw Harry’s team, Royal Salute Sentebale, triumph 3-1 over a squad led by his friend, Argentine polo player Nacho Figueras.
The match, held at the Grand Champions Polo Club in Palm Beach County, served a dual purpose.
While raising an estimated $1 million for Sentebale, Harry’s charity focused on helping children in southern Africa, it also provided a glimpse into the production of an upcoming Netflix miniseries.
A camera crew, associated with the company behind the soccer docu-series “Welcome to Wrexham,” shadowed the prince throughout the day, hinting at a polo-centric project on the horizon.
Harry himself contributed significantly to the victory, scoring the opening goal for his team.
Following the win, a celebratory atmosphere prevailed, with organisers estimating the fundraising weekend to reach a total of $1 million for Sentebale.
This adds to a larger success story – since its inception in 2006, celebrity polo matches have generated roughly $15 million for the charity.
The event also comes amidst ongoing tensions within the British Royal Family. Prince Harry’s recent memoir, “Spare,” detailed a strained relationship with his brother, Prince William, heir to the throne.
The book recounted a physical altercation between the two princes, further highlighting the family rift.
