Lawyers boycott court over judge’s removal

ISLAMABAD:

Lawyers observed a partial strike on Wednesday on the call of the Islamabad Bar Council after Justice Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri of the IHC was barred from judicial work.

The strike disrupted routine court proceedings, though hearings in some cases continued.

IHC Bar Secretary Manzoor Jajja in a statement urged lawyers not to appear in court as a mark of protest.

As a result, IHC Chief Justice Sarfraz Dogar’s cause list was cancelled, while Justice Saman Rafat Imtiaz did not reach the court and only heard urgent matters in chambers.
