KARACHI: The fire in the city’s Korangi area, which burned relentlessly for 17 days, has finally been extinguished. However, the pit continues to emit the same gas that initially sparked the blaze. As a result, water continues to seep from it.

The fire, which started after a 1,200-foot-deep bore was drilled at the site on March 29, had led to concerns about the type and volume of gas responsible for the blaze.

This is a developing story and is being updated with more details.
