Pierce Brosnan, the iconic James Bond actor, has pulled off a stunning transformation for his upcoming role in the sports biopic “Giant.”
Many fans, who saw his latest photo online, commented that the 70-year-old looked unrecognisable, as the actor embodies the role of legendary Irish boxing trainer Brendan Ingle.
Brosnan was seen sporting thinning white hair, added wrinkles, and a frailer physique – a stark contrast to his typical debonair image.
“Giant” tells the story of the remarkable partnership between Ingle and the celebrated British-Yemeni boxer “Prince” Naseem Hamed.
Ingle, who passed away in 2018, played a pivotal role in Hamed’s rise as a world champion, along with training other renowned fighters like Johnny Nelson, Junior Witter, and Kell Brook.
Hamed’s boxing career peaked between 1992 and 2002. The film will delve into his humble beginnings in working-class Sheffield, the unconventional training methods employed by Ingle, and the challenges they faced against the backdrop of the era’s racism and Islamophobia.
Ingle’s serendipitous discovery of Hamed, then a mere 7-year-old, blossomed into a legendary coach-boxer relationship. Their partnership ultimately soured, leading to a split in 1998.
Amir El-Masry, known for “The Crown,” stars as Naseem Hamed. Rowan Athale (“Gangs of London”) directs “Giant.”
