LAHORE:
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has directed the district administrations to develop green belts around underpasses and under overhead bridges in all major cities of the province.
Chairing a meeting for a briefing on the performance of Rawalpindi division as per Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), she also directed them to beautify the bridges and underpasses in all cities.
Along with improvements in public affairs, special attention should be paid to the beautification of cities, she added
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz ordered the installation of ‘cat’s eyes’ along zebra crossings on roads in front of educational institutions.
She directed the district administrations to improve monitoring of the development projects, cleanliness and prices of essential commodities.
The chief minister ordered the placement of plastic covers on manholes.
She ordered removal of encroachments on a permanent basis. She said the people should see a clear improvement of governance.
The chief minister said, “The number of model cart markets should be increased in big cities.”
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz said, potholes should not be seen on the roads.
She also said that cleaning of the drains in Murree should be carried on continuously and welcome signboards should be installed at the entrances to the city.
She appreciated the establishment of a library and a monument of World War I in Chakwal.
The CM congratulated the deputy commissioner concerned for building autism classrooms in the Murree Special Education School.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz emphasised in her message on International Day of Human Solidarity, “Establishment of solidarity, compassion and equality is the foundation of a better and peaceful society.”
She added, “Only through human solidarity can poverty, injustice and social inequality be eliminated.”
The chief minister said,.”Punjab government is following the principles of humanitarian service. All policies and projects of the Punjab government are dedicated to serving humanity and the welfare of the weaker sections.”
She said, “We are promoting the principles of solidarity, brotherhood and social justice by including every segment of society in the development stream.”
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz said, “We are working day and night to create a society where everyone has equal opportunities.”
She appealed to the citizens to play their role in serving the humanity beyond colour, race, religion and nation.
Through another statement, the chief minister congratulated the Pakistan Cricket Team on winning an ODI series against South Africa.
“The brilliant victory in the ODI series against South Africa is a moment of joy and pride for the entire nation,” she said. She added, “The determination, hard work and unity shown by the Team Green is commendable. Hopefully, the national cricket team will continue its winning streak.”
