Gandapur vows to restore peace, continue counterterrorism efforts in K-P

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur has reiterated his commitment to restore peace and continue the fight against terrorism in the province, dismissing any notion of imposing restrictions on the party that secured the most votes as mere unfounded claims.

Speaking to the media during a visit to the Supreme Command Post in Peshawar on Tuesday, CM Gandapur labelled terrorism as a major issue and challenge. Reflecting on his tenure, Gandapur highlighted previous efforts to establish peace, noting setbacks during the previous administration.

He dismissed recent criticism regarding economic, dollar, inflation, and security control as baseless, emphasising the provincial government’s rightful share, while thanking the Supreme Court for its constitutional stance. He further called for the resignation of the Election Commissioner, arguing their involvement in non-political decisions.

The CM clarified they are not against the appointment of judges and said he planned to discuss this matter in the assembly session. He stressed the need for adherence to Pakistan’s constitution by the judiciary.

Gandapur asserted that decisions made by PTI Founder Imran Khan are final, criticising those exploiting Article 47 to save their politics with contradictory statements. He called for transparency and direct dialogue.

He further expressed confidence in the security arrangements for the 10th Muharram procession, ensuring effective responses to any emergencies. He emphasised monitoring all processions and gatherings through CCTV and drone cameras.

Security arrangements were detailed during the briefing, highlighting coordination among relevant departments. He commended the security personnel serving during Muharram, encouraging unity among scholars and citizens of different sects to maintain harmony.

The CM also noted efforts to reduce load shedding and promote solar systems where there is excess loss. He proposed partial payments and loans to aid solar system installations.
